Of course the story in the first Outlast is better, the characters at some point are better, but that's not the point.The thing that makes Outlast arguably one of the best horror games ever made is the game's ability to induce sheer terror, not only for the gamers but the people watching others play the game.

it's like a horror movie like if you have seen movie "The Grave Encounters" this game has a touch of that movie. This game is very unique in a way that you have no weapon with you and can't shoot or through anything and you just have to walk or run in the game saving your life.

Does Outlast 1 have Jumpscares : When you crouch underneath a set of crates, a Variant's face will suddenly appear on your screen! The scariest scene for me has to have been the last moment in the Sewers where you and Chris Walker are trapped in the same pitchblack flooded room.
Is it OK to let my 7 year old cry
Allowing children to express their sorrow in a safe environment teaches them that their natural reaction (crying) is healthy and acceptable. Being there to offer support, but not fix it for them, teaches them that they can handle upsets and disappointments on their own, and empowers them for the future.
