How hard is it to learn Dwarf Fortress?
DF is not necessarily difficult but it's complex and sometimes uses slightly weird logic. Once you get your brain around that though, running a medium size fort is totally doable. After a point, the complexity will ramp up again solely because there's loads of stuff to manage and take care of.109 Hours

This was in about 2 days. I've read other forums and a lot of players mention it took them roughly 2 weeks to a month to properly have a functional knowledge of the game. Others I saw say it took them hundreds of hours and they are still learning which seems a bit daunting haha.

Is Dwarf Fortress beatable : Infinity. Dwarf Fortress has no win condition. With a single exception in Archcrystal, your fortress is likely to be wiped out within the first 10–20 years; if you even get that far. There is no official way to win the game.

Why is Dwarf Fortress so hard

Dwarf fortress is difficult for two reasons 1: Unintuitive interface. It takes some time just to learn how to do basic things and find the information you need. 2: Complexity. Once you know every possible command you can give you need to figure out what to do.

What makes Dwarf Fortress so hard : There are a couple things to look out for that can make your fortress harder than normal to play in. Firstly, new players should not embark, or start a fortress, on any site that has a heavy underground aquifer. Dwarves don't swim and won't go in water, so if your fortress is flooded, that's pretty much game over.

In 2002 two brothers started working on making a game where anything was possible and the stories were endless. And while Dwarf Fortress isn't completely Infinite, it's pretty dang close.

Yeah, 30 is probably better. Starting out with 12 seems to be good for my tiny forts just getting used to the game. The default of 200 I feel just causes your fortress to get flooded with people and you're panicking trying to meet everyone's needs.

Is Dwarf Fortress intensive

I believe this game is mostly cpu intensive so theres like the best single core cpu you can get yourself go for that.Fortress mode, a construction and management simulation of a colony of dwarves. There are no objectives, with the player being free to decide how to go about managing the colony and making them interact with the environment, thus making it an open-ended and sandbox-style game.Angels, and their variants, are the absolute strongest creatures in the game, acting as the "final bosses" of the game if playing in "Adventure Mode".

Brothers Tarn and Zach Adams, creators of the legendary colony simulation game Dwarf Fortress, have revealed that they made $7.2 million in January 2023, following the release of the Steam version of the game in December 2022.

Does world size matter in Dwarf Fortress : The world size doesn't affect FPS all that much as far as I know (embark size does) but it does affect the time it takes when saving. For those that don't know… Water flowing down multiple levels also makes a huge impact.

Does Dwarf Fortress have an end : Since there is no way to win, it only ends when the entire colony is defeated by the various possible threats, or the player decides to abandon or retire the fortress.

How realistic is Dwarf Fortress

The geology in Dwarf Fortress is fairly accurate. Rocks like olivine and gabbro can be dug up. The topmost layer usually consists of sand, clay or plain soil—this can be used for underground farming. Deeper levels will be layers of rock; minerals appear in layers or clusters around the right depth.
